November 20 – 22, 2017
Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to join us for an arts exploration this Thanksgiving break. Students will use their powers of observation coupled with their individual creativity to create drawings, paintings, 3D and mixed media projects. Students will be engaged in hands-on projects and class conversations relating to the lesson, games, and even stories that help to ignite their imaginations. Art history is incorporated into each lesson. Above all, the goal of each lesson is to be fun, playful and memorable.
Students will create 3D work while learning about gesture. The Fauves and 16th and 17th Century Spanish Still Life will be introduced, as well as contour drawing and the use of pastels. Children will also explore portraiture and color with storytelling.
Rachel graduated with a BFA in drawing and painting from the University of Southern MS, Hattiesburg. She has taught art with the North Shore Home Education Center in St. Tammany.
